Forwarded to Deborah Chamitoff CKAP 1370 and member of the Cross Canada Cycling Touring Society (CCCTS) who passed it on to James Wilson Coordinator CKAP.
We are very sorry to inform you all of the death of Max McClanahan. Max CKAP 1426 & member of the CCCTS died in his sleep while on a CCCTS Tour of the Gaspe Peninsula in the early hours of August 12, 2019. Max passed away in his tent beside the Gulf of St. Lawrence near the village of Saint Flavie, Quebec.
Max had spent the first four days of the tour riding with friends, doing what he loved, in spite of the rain and the poor WiFi. Max seemed as robust as ever, in good spirits, so passing was a great shock. Local ambulance and police were in attendance and were very helpful and sensitive.
Max had been a CCCTS club member and leader of very adventurous Tours. He was one of the Directors since 2014 and was the creator and manager of the club website.
Our condolences go out to Max’s partner Valerie Chu.
James; I only spoke with Max once by internet that I remember and that was I mentioned I had a Canadian Champion Airedale named Max and he said nice name for a dog but not a person. Both are now deceased and I will miss both.
